Original paragraph:

The European Union is a community with many interesting facts. It was set up in the 1950s when the European Coal and Steel community started to unite European countries economically and politically with the aim of remaining in peace. The six founders are Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg and the Netherlands. At the moment 28 countries join the European Union. As each year the EU sets a new focus for the next year, 2014 will be the European Year of Reconciling Work and Family Life. There is also the fact that the EU consists of seven main organizations. However, it must be taken into consideration that there is a main difference between the Council of the EU, the European Council and the Council of Europe. The Council of the EU is an organization of the EU and represents the governments of the individual member countries. The European Council is an institution of the EU and consists of the heads of government of the members. By contrast, the Council of Europe is an international organization in Strasbourg which comprises 47 countries of Europe. These several facts make the EU as interesting as it is.

My classmates think that my topic and concluding sentence fit well together, because they reflect each other. However, they would replace the word “interesting” in the concluding sentence with a synonym.

In their opinion, the register is also ok. Though they would change “... of the members” to “... of each member state”.
